Professor Nikitin, a Russian literature specialist, takes on the mission to teach Joana, a girl suffering from multiple personality disorder who believes herself to be Anna Karenina. During lessons, Nikitin grows fascinated by the girl and awakens Joana’s obsession with Anna K. even further. Consumed by the insanity of this three-way relationship, he tries to stop his own life from taking the same course as that of Tolstoi’s novel.
